Acquired on loan from Chivas USA on Aug. 10 for the rest of the 2010 season… Played in 10 games (at Puerto Rico: 8/11, at Miami: 8/14, vs. Vancouver, vs. Carolina, vs. St. Louis, at Rochester, vs. Austin: 9/16, at Montreal, vs. Minnesota: 9/24 and vs. Baltimore) with seven starts (at Puerto Rico: 8/11, at Miami: 8/14, vs. Vancouver, vs. Carolina, vs. St. Louis, at Montreal and vs. Baltimore)... Scored his first goal as a Rowdie at Miami FC (8/14)… Notched his second goal vs. Minnesota (9/24)… Totaled 13 shots as a Rowdie.
Maykel Galindo, who is originally from Villa Clara, Cuba and sought political asylum in 2005, began his United States professional career with the Seattle Sounders, then of USL-1. While with the Sounders, Galindo logged more than 1,000 minutes on the field and five goals, including the game-tying goal in the 2005 USL-1 Championship game which Seattle won in penalty kicks.
Galindo began playing for Chivas USA in 2007 where he ended his first season with 12 regular season goals and five assists, as well as earning the team’s Budweiser Golden Boot award and finishing fifth overall in the MLS in goals scored. Galindo has played in more than 65 games for Chivas USA and scored 18 goals since joining the team.
Prior to defecting to the U.S., Galindo played a total of 35 games for the Cuban National Team starting in 2002 and scoring 12 goals. He also played for FC Villa Clara from 2001 to 2005.
